There’s much to celebrate

Welcome to Talking Care, highlighting the clinical side of our residents’ care. We have a great interview piece highlighting some of the reasons nurses from the NHS make the transition to care home work. We thank Aby Ford for sharing her thoughts on her decision to come to us.

For those colleagues in care roles looking to progress into nursing, we give an update on our Trainee Nursing Associate programme. We’re thrilled to see graduates from our first cohort, such as Ligia Dragoi and Vicky Acott going on to the next stage to become registered nurses. Our message is ’this could be you too’.

We also discuss the ongoing success of our Senior Care Lead programme and how we are strengthening clinical teams with overseas nurses through our new referral scheme.

Our end of life care strategy is another focus, with the recent publication of our first dedicated manual aimed at helping all staff. For nurses in particular we want to emphasise that you can indeed nurture exceptional end of life care skills here at Colten Care.

Looking back to the end of last year, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate everyone involved in the care at Kingfishers in New Milton for the home’s triumph at the National Care Awards, winning the Care Team of the Year category. This is a magnificent achievement all round.

I hope you enjoy your Talking Care. If you have any feedback, or would like to suggest an article, please tell us at ContactUs@ColtenCare.co.uk.
